Summer in the City!

Here are some interesting ways to while away the summer hours in our beautiful city!

1) Discover something you didn’t know about the city — for free! The Vancouver Tour Guys have been getting rave reviews about their informative, fun, and free tours. Whether you’d like to learn a little bit more about Chinatown or the West End, the tour guys host daily walking tours that will help you see Vancouver from a whole new perspective.

2) If you don’t have an entry ticket, listening to the music from outside of the Vancouver Folk Festival is just about as good as being inside the gates. It’s even better when you’re browsing through the stalls of the marketplace that’s open to the public, bargaining over colourful hula hoops and leather satchels. Runs July 19-21 at Jericho Beach.

3) Try being a Vegetarians or Vegans on July 27th.  The annual vegan festival takes place in Downtown Vancouver. This free festival features food vendors (vegan-friendly!), animal protection organizations, local businesses, and more.

4) Explore the popular food cart scene in the downtown core. Its the largest in Canada! From Gastown to Granville Street, the tour will take you to all the best street eating Vancouver has to offer. Try some traditional Indian naan? How about some Hong Kong dim sum? Or authentic Australian Pies? On this tour you can sample 6 different food carts with an array of flavours. Organic cold-pressed smoothies, crispy risotto balls, gooey grill cheese sandwiches, and melt in your mouth bacon-bourbon brownies are just a few of the interesting offerings you can expect to sample on this tour. 5)  How about a Sun Salutation to round out your weekend! Every Saturday at 10:30am, Grouse Mountain hosts a complimentary 30 minute yoga class taught by YYoga instructors. Stretch in the sunshine after a hike up the Grouse Grind or arrive by Skyride and take some time to relax and breathe in the fresh mountain air. These classes run every weekend until August 24th.
